The 300-metre Aspire Tower — also known as the Torch — rises above Aspire Zone with a distinctive angled crown designed to evoke a flame. Built for the 2006 Asian Games, it was briefly the tallest building in Qatar and remains one of the more graceful towers in a Doha skyline otherwise given to aggressive commercial architecture. A Torch hotel occupies the upper floors.
The tower is not open for observation-deck visits, but it is well photographed from the Aspire Zone park below, where the combination of the tower, the Khalifa stadium's arches, and the surrounding green space makes for an unusual landscape by Gulf standards.
