Doha is served by Hamad International Airport, one of the busiest transit hubs in the world. Qatar Airways operates a vast network and connections from Europe take around 6–7 hours; from East Asia 8–9 hours; from North America 14+ hours with a stop. The airport is a destination in itself — it has good dining, the Damien Hirst lamp/bear sculpture, and a transit hotel for long layovers.
The metro Red Line connects the airport directly to central Doha in about 25 minutes; taxis are available but more expensive. There are no passenger ferries to Bahrain or other Gulf states that serve casual travellers; everything comes through the airport.
