Doha has shopping malls of every scale — Villaggio with its indoor canal and gondolas, City Center, the Mall of Qatar, and the newer Place Vendôme. For something more interesting, the Souq Waqif workshops and textile sections sell spices, oud incense, fabrics, and traditional Qatari dress. The gold and jewellery section of the souq is comprehensive if not especially cheap.
For the characteristic Gulf purchases — Arabic oud and bakhoor incense, khanjar daggers, falcon accessories, camel-milk products — the souq and the markets around it are the right places to look.
