The mosque inside Katara Cultural Village is one of the more carefully considered modern religious buildings in Qatar. Designed in a contemporary interpretation of Ottoman-Mughal style with a prominent dome and minaret, it commands the cultural village's main square and offers an interior with geometric tilework and stained glass that is more ornate than the stripped-down aesthetic of most Gulf mosques.
Non-Muslim visitors are welcome outside prayer times. The mosque is active and used by the Katara community and visiting worshippers. The surrounding square, framed by the mosque and the amphitheatre, is the most photogenic urban space in the cultural village.
