Ta'if's old souq is the most rewarding traditional market in the western half of the country. It runs through several covered lanes in the centre of the old town, with stalls selling silver jewellery, honey, rose products, traditional perfumes, dates, and the prized Sidr honey from Ta'if's beekeepers.
Honey is a serious business here. Al-Shafa honey, harvested from the high plateau just south of the city, sells for many times the price of supermarket honey and is regarded across the Gulf as a delicacy. The rose section, busiest after the spring harvest, sells the city's famous rose water and rose oil in small vials and in bulk.
