Old Daegwallyeong Road follows the old mountain route over the Baekdudaegan range, the long spine of the Korean peninsula. The pass once linked Gangneung with Pyeongchang, Wonju, and Seoul, carrying scholars, traders, and travellers across the hills.
Today the draw is the walk itself: forested slopes, mountain air, and a sense of the old road that crossed this difficult terrain before modern highways made the journey easy.
