The Chen Dexing Ancestral Hall is the lineage temple of the Chen clan, one of the most widespread surnames in Taiwan. Built in 1912 to a design by the noted temple architect Chen Ying-bin, it is among the finest ancestral halls in Taipei, with a swooping swallowtail roof, elaborate stone and wood carving, and a pair of unusually tall stone dragon columns in the front hall.
It remains an active clan hall rather than a tourist site, so it is usually quiet; a short detour from the Dadaocheng and Ningxia night market area for anyone interested in temple architecture.
