Gui-de Street is a heritage lane in Datong tied to Taipei's old tea trade. In the late 19th century, wealthy merchants built houses here to support the district's international commerce.
The best-known survivor is the former Chen Tian-lai residence, a richly detailed neo-Baroque merchant house. It makes a useful short detour while exploring Dadaocheng and Dihua Street.
