Yongkang Street

Da'an's famous food street, lined with restaurants, teahouses, and dessert shops

Yongkang Street is the most famous eating street in Taipei, a compact grid of lanes in the Da'an district just south of Dongmen station that has become a destination in its own right. It is anchored by some of the city's best-known food names — Din Tai Fung opened its original branch nearby, and Yongkang Beef Noodle and the Smoothie House (Ice Monster) shaved-ice shop both draw queues — but the appeal is the density and quality of the whole street.

The lanes are packed with restaurants, teahouses, dumpling shops, mango-ice parlours, and small boutiques, mostly low-rise and walkable. It manages to be both a tourist magnet and a genuine neighbourhood eating street, busy with locals as much as visitors. Come hungry, graze your way along, and detour into the quieter residential lanes for the teahouses and design shops that fill the gaps between the famous restaurants.
