Phuket FantaSea is a large evening cultural theme park on the hillside between Surin and Kamala beaches. The main attraction is a theatrical show combining elephant acrobatics, pyrotechnics, and traditional Thai dance performed in a purpose-built theatre that holds over 3,000 people. It is unabashedly spectacular and entirely aimed at tourists, with a massive buffet dinner complex, a "Festival Village" of stalls, and plenty of photo opportunities with costumed performers.
Whether it appeals depends entirely on your relationship with large-scale tourist entertainment. The show is professionally produced and the elephants are a genuine draw for families with children. The buffet is extensive if not particularly distinguished. It is the sort of place that provokes strong opinions, but it's busy most nights of the week and there's no denying it delivers what it promises. Book in advance during the high season.
