Kim Yong Market

Central market for dried goods, spices and southern Thai snacks

Address Thanon Phetkasem

A sprawling daytime market in the heart of Hat Yai, named after the original Hokkien owner. It is the largest dry-goods market in southern Thailand — bins of dried squid, salted fish, southern curry pastes, peppercorns, nuts, betel nut, herbal medicines, and the local specialty cashews from nearby Pattani.

The atmosphere is pure Sino-Thai trading post: narrow aisles, family stalls run for generations, Chinese signage alongside the Thai. The stalls on Sangchan Road behind the market sell some of the best Thai-Chinese pastries in the city. Open daily from early morning to around 6pm.
