Elephant Retirement Park is an elephant sanctuary north of Chiang Mai, set up for animals retired from work in logging, construction, and tourist riding. Visits focus on observing and feeding the elephants rather than performances.
As with any elephant attraction in northern Thailand, ask what contact is allowed before booking. The better experience is the slower one: watching the animals move, bathe, and feed without expecting tricks or rides.
