Lanna Traditional House Museum

A collection of traditional northern Thai wooden houses on the Chiang Mai University grounds.

The Lanna Traditional House Museum preserves a group of wooden houses that show how northern Thai domestic architecture worked before concrete shop-houses and guesthouses reshaped much of Chiang Mai. Raised floors, steep roofs, verandas, and timber details make the buildings easy to read even without specialist knowledge.

It is a good complement to the old city's temples because it shifts attention from religious monuments to everyday elite and rural architecture. The museum is outside the moat on the university side of town, so it works best when paired with other west-side stops.
