The Tekeli Mehmet Paşa Mosque is a well-preserved Ottoman mosque in Kaleiçi, built in the 17th century by the governor after whom it is named. It stands on a narrow lane not far from the Yivli Minaret, and its modest exterior conceals a bright interior with painted panels and geometric tilework.
The mosque is active, so dress appropriately if you want to look inside. The small courtyard with its ablution fountain is peaceful, tucked away enough from the tourist circuit to feel like a genuine neighbourhood mosque rather than a monument.
