Love Valley lies north of Göreme and contains some of the most striking fairy chimneys in all of Cappadocia — tall, narrow columns topped with darker basalt caps that have given the valley its suggestive name. The formations here are more dramatic and more densely packed than in most other valleys, and the floor is open enough to walk without losing the view.
The valley is easily reached on foot from town in under an hour. A trail from the northern end of Göreme's main street leads up through the vineyards and into the valley floor. The walk is relatively flat once you descend in and takes about two hours at an easy pace. Most balloon flights pass directly over Love Valley at sunrise, which gives you a useful preview before you walk it.
