Ortahisar is one of the easiest side trips from Goreme and a useful antidote to the busiest parts of Cappadocia. The village is built around a tall rock castle, with cave rooms, stone houses, and lanes that still feel more workaday than showpiece.
Climb or circle the castle area if access is open, then spend time in the back streets rather than treating Ortahisar as a single photo. It pairs well with the Goreme Open-Air Museum, Uchisar, or a valley walk, and it gives Cappadocia's rock-cut architecture a more village-like setting.
