The Arkeoloji Müzesi sits in the outer courtyard of Topkapı Palace and is one of the great archaeological museums of the world. The Ottoman Empire stretched from Algeria to Vienna, and the collection reflects that reach — Phoenician sarcophagi, Greek sculpture, Roman friezes, Egyptian artefacts. The Alexander Sarcophagus alone is worth the trip. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 9:30am to 4:30pm.
