The nightlife axis runs along Istiklal Caddesi from Taksim down to Tünel, with dozens of bars, live music venues, and cafés packed into the side streets of Beyoğlu. Ortaköy on the Bosphorus is livelier in summer. Across the water, Kadiköy has its own independent scene with cheaper beer and a younger, more local crowd.
