Istanbul's food scene is excellent and remarkably affordable by European standards. Beyoğlu has the densest concentration of good restaurants, but Kadiköy on the Asian side is arguably better for everyday eating — more local, cheaper, less touristy. Don't leave without trying a proper breakfast spread, a bowl of tripe soup at 2am, and fresh fish at a Bosphorus-side meyhane.
