Asia > Turkey > Keşan
Keşan is a crossroads town in Turkish Thrace, on the routes between Istanbul, Edirne, Greece, and the Gallipoli Peninsula. The town itself is practical rather than beautiful, but it opens onto the Gulf of Saros, where small resort villages, pine-backed coves, clear cold water, and summer diving give the area its real travel value.
Do not come expecting a polished beach town. Keşan is the place where you buy supplies, catch buses, and head south. The reward is the coast: Gökçetepe Nature Park, İbrice Limanı, and the beach villages around Erikli and Saros Bay.
There is also a more local side in the inland villages. Çamlıca has old stone buildings from its Greek village past and a mid-January Bocuk Gecesi celebration, when villagers dress up for a winter ghost walk. Keşan is not a classic city break, but if you are crossing Thrace or looping toward Gallipoli, it gives you a useful and often enjoyable day by the Saros coast.
