Bu Qtair is a legendary low-key seafood shack next to the Jumeirah Fishing Harbour. You choose your fish or prawns from a display of the day's catch, watch them deep-fried in front of you, and eat at plastic tables on the waterfront. No menus, no choices beyond the fish, no alcohol, no décor — just some of the freshest and best-value fried fish in the city.
It has been in operation since the 1980s and has survived a move and a brief closure. The prawns are particularly good. Prices are under 50 AED for a large portion. Arrive early or after the first wave — waits can be 30 minutes at peak times.
