Sharjah's attractions are concentrated in two areas: the Heritage Area around the fort and covered souq, and the newer cultural district along the Khalid Lagoon. The emirate's remarkable collection of specialist museums is the main reason to come — nowhere else in the Gulf offers such sustained engagement with Islamic art, science, and traditional Emirati crafts.
