Front Beach (Bãi Trước)

Front Beach faces north-west across Ganh Rai bay and is the more sheltered, less swimmable of the two main Vung Tau beaches. The water is greyish and busy with fishing boats; people come here mainly to walk the promenade, eat at one of the seafood places along the road, and watch the sun set over the islands offshore.

The path along the seafront stretches for several kilometres and is lined with statues, palm trees, and small parks. It is the most pleasant part of the city to stroll in the late afternoon when the heat eases. Avoid swimming — the currents and boat traffic make it a poor choice.
