Niết Bàn Tịnh Xá

The Nirvana Monastery is one of the largest Buddhist complexes in southern Vietnam, built in the early 1970s on the western slope of Mount Nhỏ. It is more famous architecturally than spiritually — multiple terraces of white-painted concrete climbing the hillside, topped by a long 12-metre reclining Buddha in white marble.

A vast bronze bell, said to weigh three and a half tonnes, sits in the entrance hall along with painted scenes of the Buddha's life. The complex is quiet most days outside major Buddhist holidays. Free entry; remove shoes inside the halls.
