Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk

The Bondi to Coogee walk is one of the finest urban coastal walks in the world — six kilometres of clifftop paths, ocean pools and tiny beaches strung between Bondi and Coogee along Sydney's eastern coastline. The walk passes Tamarama (known locally as Glamarama for the model population that sunbathes there), Bronte, Clovelly and Gordon's Bay before descending into Coogee. It takes between 2 and 3 hours at a comfortable pace, though most people stop for a swim or a coffee along the way.

The Clovelly section passes a long concrete tidal pool popular with lap swimmers, and a short detour at Gordon's Bay drops into a calm cove used by scuba divers. The coastal headlands are planted with native vegetation that has recovered significantly since the walk's upgrade. The best light is in the morning, with the sun behind you. Do the walk north to south (Bondi to Coogee) — the cliffs are taller and more dramatic at the northern end and make for a better visual progression. Buses from both ends connect back to the CBD and to each other.
