Georges Head Battery is one of the old harbour defence sites on the north side of Sydney Harbour. The surviving batteries, barracks, and casemates were built to guard the outer harbour, and they sit in a landscape of bush tracks and open water views.
The site works well as part of a walk around Georges Heights and Middle Head. The military remains add context, but the harbour outlook is the reason most visitors linger.
