Bald Rock National Park is the big reason travelers detour to Tenterfield. The park is named for a vast exposed granite dome near the Queensland border, with summit tracks and open views over the surrounding country.
There are gentler and steeper ways up, so choose the route that matches the weather and your knees. The rock is exposed, and it can feel much bigger once you are on it than it looks from the car park.
