Currys Gap State Conservation Area protects old-growth forest at the base of Mount Mackenzie, close to Tenterfield. Vehicles stop at the Mount Mackenzie Road gate, but visitors can walk in to see the water hole, rock pool, birdlife, and remains of The Common Aboriginal settlement.
