Home Hill

Home Hill is the National Trust-listed former home of Joseph Lyons, Australia's only Tasmanian-born prime minister (1932–1939), and his wife Dame Enid Lyons — who became the first woman elected to the House of Representatives in 1943. The heritage property has been preserved much as the family left it, with original furnishings and personal effects. For visitors with any interest in Australian political history, it is a surprisingly compelling stop: the Lyons family were central figures in Depression-era politics, and Enid's subsequent career was remarkable by any standard. The grounds include a small café and a Providore selling Tasmanian produce.
