Old Wentworth Gaol

Old Wentworth Gaol is a small 19th-century jail on the edge of Wentworth, built of brick with bluestone trim when the river town was a busy colonial outpost. It now works as a museum, with cells, yards, and period details that make the building easy to read without much explanation.

It fits naturally with a trip to the Murray-Darling confluence. The gaol gives a sharper sense of frontier Wentworth: isolated, practical, and built for a rough river trade.
