The Perry Sandhills are a small but striking dune field near Wentworth, west of Mildura. The orange sand, wind-shaped ridges, and scattered scrub feel unexpectedly desert-like after the irrigated river country around town.
They are easy to visit by car and work well with the Murray-Darling confluence at Wentworth. Go early or late for cooler temperatures and better light; the dunes are exposed in the middle of the day.
