Geraldton's beaches are among the best in Western Australia for water sports, particularly wind-driven activities. The afternoon sea breeze — locally called the Fremantle Doctor's northern cousin — blows reliably and strongly from around noon, making the mid-coast one of the premier windsurfing and kiteboarding destinations in the world. Back Beach and Sunset Beach are the primary spots.
