Pataka is the must-see — give yourself an hour or two for the galleries and the cafe. Beyond that, head west: the Whitireia coastal walks, the long sandy beach at Plimmerton, and the rough cliffs above Titahi Bay are all under a fifteen-minute drive from the centre. Aotea Lagoon is the easy family option closer in.
