Eating Out

Several small restaurants line the bazaar street and the road up to the castle, and a couple of more interesting spots are tucked into the old town below. The classic Krujë lunch is a plate of byrek (filo pie with cheese or spinach), grilled lamb with rice or roasted potatoes, and a glass of raki — Albanian fruit brandy, often homemade.

For the best view, the terrace restaurants in the upper castle (notably Bardhi and the cafe at the Skanderbeg Museum's foot) overlook the coastal plain to the Adriatic on a clear day.
