Krujë is the best place in Albania to buy traditional crafts, in the old bazaar that climbs from the modern town to the castle gate. The serious stuff: hand-woven kelim rugs (negotiate carefully, real ones are not cheap), antique copper jugs and trays, traditional waistcoats and headscarves, hand-carved wooden objects, and Skanderbeg memorabilia at every level of taste.
There is also genuine antique trade — Ottoman coins, Italian-period banknotes, old photographs, brass coffee grinders. Bargain hard and budget a couple of hours. Cash is more useful than card; most stallholders speak some English or Italian.
