Himarë

Himarë is a small Riviera town north of Saranda, set between pale shingle beaches and the steep Ceraunian Mountains. It is livelier than Jalë and less overbuilt than Saranda, with enough cafes and seaside restaurants to work as a base for several days.

The old village above the coast has stone houses, churches, and views down to the Ionian. Around the town, the beaches at Livadhi, Potam, and the road toward Porto Palermo give the area its appeal. Come in June or September if you want warm water without the full August crush.

A story
Himarë has long sat at a cultural edge: Albanian and Greek-speaking communities, Orthodox churches, Ottoman fortifications, and coastal villages that looked more toward the Ionian Sea than inland Albania. That layered identity is still part of the town's atmosphere.
