Getting Around

The city centre is walkable; most sights between Skanderbeg Square and the Blloku district are within 20 minutes on foot. City buses cover a wider area and are cheap, though schedules can be irregular. Taxis are inexpensive by European standards — agree a fare before getting in, or use a metered cab; the standard in-city fare is around 400–600 lek. Ride-hailing apps (including local operators) are available and useful.

For day trips, furgons (shared minivans) depart from various points around the city to towns throughout Albania; they are cheap and run frequently on the main routes.
