Eating Out

Tirana's restaurant scene has expanded rapidly. Albanian food — grilled meats, byrek (flaky pastry with cheese or spinach), tavë kosi (lamb baked with yogurt), and fresh salads — is available throughout the city. Italian and Greek cuisine are also common. The Blloku neighbourhood has the densest concentration of restaurants and is the main destination for an evening meal.

Era Restaurant on Ismail Qemali street is a long-standing favourite for Italian food and pizza, popular with both locals and visitors and open late. Apollonia on Bulevardi Deshmoret e Kombit is known for grilled fish and Albanian specialities with a garden seating area. Restaurant prices are generally low by European standards.
