House of Leaves (Museum of Secret Surveillance)

A small museum in a green-walled villa behind the Et'hem Bey Mosque, dedicated to communist-era surveillance and the work of the Sigurimi. The building itself was a Sigurimi listening post from the 1940s until 1991. Period equipment — wires, microphones, transcripts, file rooms — is shown alongside personal stories of people whose lives were turned upside down by what was recorded here.

A serious, careful, and at times bleak museum. Combined ticket with Bunk'Art 2 is good value if you have a half-day for both.

A story
The building was a maternity clinic in the 1930s before the Sigurimi requisitioned it during World War II. The nickname comes from the dense ivy that covers the facade — Albanians sometimes joke that the leaves were planted as a metaphor by the secret police themselves.
