Aragast Restaurant

Aragast is one of the more dependable restaurants on the main street of Tsaghkadzor, drawing a steady crowd of skiers, day-trippers, and locals throughout the winter season. The menu is solidly Armenian: khorovats grilled over charcoal, lamb soup, stuffed grape leaves, and grilled trout from the highland lakes. Portions are generous and the food is cooked to order rather than sitting in bains-marie.

The room is warm and unpretentious, with wooden fittings and mountain views from the main windows. In summer the terrace opens and is pleasant in the evening cool. Staff are accustomed to non-Armenian speakers and can usually manage basic English or Russian. Prices are moderate by Yerevan standards and very reasonable compared to European mountain restaurants.
