The Olympic Sports Complex on the lower slopes of Tsaghkadzor was developed as a dedicated training facility for Armenian Olympic athletes. It includes a velodrome, athletics track, and various indoor and outdoor training areas, making it one of the most comprehensive sports facilities in the country outside of Yerevan. The complex has hosted national championships and international training camps.
The velodrome is of particular interest — it is a purpose-built track cycling venue and one of only a handful in the South Caucasus region. Visitors can sometimes watch training sessions; the facility operates on a schedule available from the main reception. During ski season, the complex also coordinates with the nearby ski resort for winter sports training. If you have an interest in sports infrastructure or Armenian athletics, the complex is worth a look on the way to or from the ski lifts.
