Casino Baden, founded in 1934 and operating in an elegant neoclassical building on the Kurpark, is one of Austria's oldest and most celebrated casinos. It occupies a former Kurhaus — the building where the fashionable set gathered to take the waters and socialise during Baden's imperial heyday — and the interior retains much of its grandeur, with high ceilings, chandeliers, and a ballroom that is still used for events.
The casino offers the full range of table games — roulette, blackjack, poker — alongside slot machines. The dress code is smart casual; smart casual applies strictly; trainers and sports clothes will turn you away at the door. Even visitors who are not gamblers often walk through the bar and restaurant in the lower rooms, which have an atmospheric Belle Epoque quality. There is a minimum age of 18 and ID is required.
