Kurpark

The Kurpark is Baden's centrepiece: a large, beautifully maintained public park running along the edge of the old town, shaded by mature trees and laid out in the 19th century English landscaping style. The park's rose garden is its crown jewel — hundreds of varieties in bloom from June through September, arranged around paths and fountains that make for one of the most pleasant afternoon walks in the Vienna region.

A covered bandstand in the park hosts free concerts on summer Sunday afternoons, continuing a tradition from the Habsburg era. Walking paths from the park connect to the Helenental — a wooded valley to the west used by Beethoven for his long walks while composing at Baden — and to the vineyard slopes above the town. Entry to the park is free; it is open at all hours.

A story
The Kurpark's famous rose garden contains over 600 varieties and 30,000 rose plants — the result of Baden's long-standing Rose Week festival, held each June since the 1930s, which established the town as one of Austria's premier rose destinations. The bandstand in the park still hosts free Sunday concerts in summer, a tradition that dates to the Habsburg era when the imperial court made Baden its summer residence.
