By air. Vienna International Airport (Schwechat / VIE) is 20 kilometres south-east of the city. The CAT (City Airport Train) reaches Wien Mitte in 16 minutes for 14 euros, but the regular S7 ÖBB train does the same trip in 25 minutes for 4 euros — there is no good reason to take the CAT. Buses run to the centre and to both main train stations. Taxi or Uber to the centre is around 40 euros.
By train. Wien Hauptbahnhof is the modern central station (opened 2014) and handles most international and long-distance trains: Munich, Zurich, Budapest, Prague, Bratislava, Berlin, Venice. Westbahnhof handles some commuter and regional services to western Austria and is connected to the Mariahilferstrasse shopping district by the U3.
By bus. Vienna International Bus Terminal (VIB) is on the eastern edge of the centre at the Erdberg U-Bahn station. FlixBus and other international operators arrive here.
By boat. The Twin City Liner runs to Bratislava in 75 minutes from the Schwedenplatz dock. DDSG and other Danube cruise lines call at the Reichsbrücke.
