Vienna's oldest preserved Jewish cemetery was used from the 16th century until 1784. During the Nazi period, local Jews removed and hid hundreds of gravestones before the cemetery could be razed; many were returned after rediscovery in the 1980s.
The cemetery is small and restoration work can limit access, but it can be viewed from an elevated walkway. It is a quiet historical stop near the Sigmund Freud Museum.
