Strandbad Gansehaufel is Vienna's biggest open-air beach and bathing complex, run by the city on an island in the Old Danube. Lawns, pools, slides, and lake swimming make it one of the classic summer escapes inside Vienna.
It is most useful in warm weather, when it offers a very local alternative to another museum or palace visit.
