The defining building of Dinant's skyline: a 13th-century Gothic church with a peculiar onion-shaped bell tower that has appeared on every postcard of the town for over a century. The interior is a tall, plain Gothic nave with a stained-glass rose window above the altar that fills the apse with coloured light on sunny mornings.
The church sits at the foot of the limestone cliff, with the citadel directly above. Visit early in the morning before the river-cruise crowds arrive. Free entry; modest dress preferred. Just outside, the Place Reine Astrid is the obvious orientation point for the town.
