The classic Dinant excursion: a riverboat south along the Meuse, threading between the limestone cliffs of the Ardennes. Several operators run trips from the quay beside the church between Easter and October. The short circuit goes 4 km downstream to Anseremme and back (about 45 minutes); the longer trip continues past Walzin Castle to the Rocks of Freÿr (about 90 minutes); a full-day excursion crosses the French border to Givet.
Boats are open-decked in fair weather, glass-roofed in cooler months, and most have a bar serving Belgian beer. Buy tickets at the kiosk on the quay; the boats run roughly every hour in high season. The view of Dinant's church and citadel from the water as you approach the town is one of the great Meuse panoramas.
