Parliament of Wallonia

Seat of the regional parliament in a restored former hospital

Namur is the capital of Wallonia, and the Walloon Parliament sits in the Hospice Saint-Gilles on the right bank of the Meuse — a former hospital and almshouse complex converted in the 1990s into a working legislative chamber. The building combines old stonework with a striking glazed atrium, and the contrast is at the heart of its appeal.

Guided tours are run on selected days, typically free, and let you see the debating chamber and the official rooms. Even without a tour, the courtyard is open during the day and worth a look. The riverside walk past the Parliament gives the best views of the citadel rising opposite.
