Château de Duras

A thirty-minute walk or short cycle north of Sint-Truiden brings you to this handsome Classical-style château, set in parkland on the edge of the village of Duras. The building dates from the eighteenth century and has the clean proportions characteristic of aristocratic Belgian country houses of that era.

The château is privately owned, but the exterior and surrounding park are accessible and worth combining with a walk through the Haspengouw farmland between Sint-Truiden and Duras. The route passes through orchards and along hedged farm tracks that feel far removed from the main roads.
